Saudi FM receives call from Russian foreign minister
Sergey Lavrov, Faisal bin Farhan exchange views on regional agenda, reaffirm commitment to stability in Middle East
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a phone conversation on Thursday to discuss key regional issues, with a particular focus on Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
During their discussion, the two ministers exchanged views on pressing regional matters and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in pursuing a political and diplomatic resolution to ongoing crises that threaten peace and stability in the Middle East.
Lavrov and Faisal also explored practical measures to further enhance bilateral relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia across various sectors.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia considers its engagement with Syria’s interim administration crucial and remains committed to maintaining dialogue.
Peskov added that Russian authorities will continue efforts to establish communication with Syria’s new leadership.
