Saudi Arabia minister: Riyadh is ready to work with Trump amid US-China tensions

Faisal Alibrahim highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering regional stability and advancing economic diversification

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal Alibrahim, has expressed the Kingdom’s willingness to collaborate with the second Trump administration, emphasizing a stable, forward-looking approach amid escalating US-China tensions.

Speaking with Al Arabiya’s Hadley Gamble during the World Economic Forum (WEF), Alibrahim highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering regional stability and advancing economic diversification.

«We are ready to work with the second Trump administration, as we have with previous US administrations, to tackle shared global challenges, including the sluggish economic growth facing the global community today,» Alibrahim stated, underscoring the enduring eight-decade alliance between Saudi Arabia and the United States.

The minister also emphasized Saudi Arabia’s balanced foreign policy, noting its strong ties with both the US and China. «Saudi Arabia has always maintained meaningful, constructive relationships with all its partners. Our focus is on fostering global dialogue and playing a constructive role on the international stage,» he remarked.

Alibrahim’s comments come as Saudi Arabia remains active in diplomatic efforts, including key agreements in Yemen and Lebanon, while navigating potential repercussions of a US-China trade war.

Turning to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative, Alibrahim reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s dedication to diversifying its economy away from oil dependence. He shared optimistic projections for non-oil economic growth, noting figures of 3.9% for 2024, 4.8% for 2025, and 6.2% for 2026, underscoring the positive trajectory of ongoing reforms.
